Information about Available VirtualSC Online Course Registration
We want to make all Hybrid and NewberryOne 11th and 12th grade MCHS students aware that the window for enrollment into online courses through VirtualSC opened today, August 26. Included below is a link that provides all the courses being offered for Fall 2020 and Yearlong 2020-2021 through VirtualSC. VirtualSC is a free state-sponsored online program serving students currently attending public schools in grades 7-12. At the present time, VirtualSC offers courses for high school credit only to students in grades 7-12.
We want to share this information so that students are informed of every option and opportunity to enroll in available core classes, in addition to other elective courses that may be of interest. VirtualSC course enrollment is first-come, first-served with priority being given to seniors. Students are encouraged to register early; however, on-time registration for a course does not guarantee placement in the course. Once a VSC course is complete, students will be issued a grade, and the sponsor school will award high school credit and add the course to the transcript.
Priority registration for students in 11th and 12th grade will open on August 26th. Registration for students in grades 9th-10th will open on September 2nd. All of our high schools are affiliated with VirtualSC. Any student that is interested in taking any of the available courses should contact their assigned counselor at MCHS, (803) 364-2134 or by email. If your student’s last name begins with the letters A-F, their counselor will be Ms. Sarah Wicker. Ms. Gwen McAllister will serve students with last names beginning with G-M. Mr. Durant will serve students with last names beginning with N-Z. In order to participate, the student will have to create an account, select their high school, their counselor, and the course they would like to take. MCHS counselors will be your contact for VirtualSC.
